Amazon Pink River Dolphins (AKA, Boto, Bufeo) live only
in freshwater. They are vulnerable and endangered in some areas of the Amazon. They can be found swimming and diving throughout much of the Amazon, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru and Venezuela.

Boto’s are the largest of their species and have super strong flippers and tail flukes and a wee hump instead of a dorsal fin. They are rare, unique, intelligent, social, selfless, spiritual and incredibly agile and are absolute icons of the Amazon.
______________________________________________________
Their individual and undulating pinky hues express the true beauty of nature and reflect their truly mesmerising movements and song.
_____________________________________________________
Unfortunately, their futures do not look so aspiring due to human gold mining and hunting. Further more, the effects of the 2019 Amazon fires has further devastated their homes and neighbouring wildlife. But with a little more help and human support and knowledge their future will seem bright and a less fearless!

The ARDCF collaborate with local residents, researchers to open awareness and to assess and support the wild river dolphin populations. They offer workshops for local guides and visitors to ensure they become a part of the team to help save the Amazon river dolphin and its environment.
